Mishicot Flying Club — Roy Jindra

A circa-1994 image of Roy Jindra posing next to a plane and the sign “Mishicot Flying Club.”

This history of the club was written by Michael Jindra:

The Mishicot Flying Club began when bomber pilot Roger Sekadlo returned from service after World War II. They bought a Taylorcraft 2-seat airplane in 1947, which was at times kept out at the Alvin Jindra farm across from what is now Fox Hills. Other members of the club included Roy Jindra, Harold Eis, Jerome Witte, Oscar Barthels, and later Art Nickels, Richard Dryja, Leon Sigman, and others from Manitowoc. In winter, the plane was outfitted with skis and was also landed at the Oscar Barthels farm. The plane was later permanently moved to the Manitowoc airport and the club became the Manitowoc Flying Club, with two 4-passenger Piper Cherokee planes from the 1960s, and later a Piper Archer.
