Scouting pilgrimage planned
MISHICOT – Members of Boy Scout Troop 914 of Mishicot will display an 1890 soda and acid fire extinguisher at the 30th annual U.S. Grant Boy Scout Pilgrimage to be held April 27-29 at Galena, Ill.
Scouting units participating in the pilgrimage are invited to bring an old piece of fire fighting equipment along for display.
The 1890 fire extinguisher to be displayed has a 50-gallon capacity and is accompanied with its original ax and hose.
Members of the Mishicot troop also plan to participate in an historic trail hike and bucket brigade contest. The trail hike will feature the sites of the major fires and highlights of fire fighting history over the years in Galena.
The object of the bucket brigade contest is for a team of scouts to fill a 30-gallon drum with water in the least amount of time, using buckets.
Troop 914 has Richard Thuermer as its scoutmaster and is sponsored by the emergency medical technicians of the Mishicot Ambulance Service.
