J.E. Vertz Hardware Receipt

A 1937 receipt for J.E. Vertz Hardware Store in Mishicot, Wisconsin. The receipt appears to be addressed to George Schmidt.

From “Mishicot’s Meaningful Memories“:

John Vertz’s Hardware Store was a most versatile building which housed the Wilde Photography Shop and Chris Meyer’s Cigar Store. Vertz was well known for his work in galvanized metal. The sheet metal shop was part of the business. Grover Kadow got his start in metal work in this shop.

Vertz handled hardware and small items useful to the farmers of the community. It was purchased by Donald McDonald who continued to operate it as a hardware store until it was torn down.
