A photo labeled “One Act Play,” and “Ray Koch From High School.” From a Mishicot High School yearbook:
On October 29, the cast and committees of the One Act Play traveled to Gibraltar High School to participate with the other league schools in the annual “One Act Play Contest.” They received an “A” rating. After receiving this “A” rating, they traveled to the District Contest at Kaukauna High School where they again received an “A” rating. This “A” rating made them eligible to travel to the sectional contest held at Stevens Point. Here they received a “B” rating. The play, chosen by the director, Mr. Koch, was entitled, “The Boy Upstairs.”
The characters in the play were:
Joana March — Maureen Breider
Mrs. March — Ann Wickman
Brandon Harper — Dale Hodek
Jack Bayfield — Dennis Gigler
“The Boy Upstairs” tells of Joanna March, a high school sophomore, nervously facing her first formal date. She learns that boys, as well as girls, are nervous about dates through her friend, Brandon Harper. Joanna’s date with senior, Jack Bayfield, precipitates a crisis in both her and Brandon’s life. Instinct takes care of all Joanna’s worries, just as her mother assured her it would. Later Joanna discovers it’s Brandon whom she likes.
